Series I is the very first media project created and performed by Muse.  Its intent was to gather a group of narratives from individuals close to the resident choreographers and have them build pieces of choreographic art that were important and meaningful to their Black experience.  The choreographers wanted to take a very authentic approach to their artistic contribution; the music was personally curated by each choreographer and the forewords were original narratives from students, friends, and family members of The Gallery Dance Collective.

With the doors of the studio only opening in November 2016, the Company members were able to learn six full-length pieces in 6 weekends and then perform it in a theater before a closed audience.  Released each week throughout the month of February, Series I is hoped to be — by the staff and choreographers — an ongoing and lifelong tradition of The Gallery Dance Collective and Muse.  The staff and choreographers pride themselves in their culture and find joy in passing this wealth of generational knowledge down to the Company members through the art of dance.
